Liam Whaley Wins in Fuerteventura

The sixth and final day of the Fuerteventura Kiteboarding Grand Slam wrapped up today with the completion of the freestyle double elimination that saw Liam Whaley (ES) and Gisela Pulido (ES) sweeping the top podium spots in Spanish waters and in front of a home crowd. Earning his first top podium spot ever, Whaley held off the current point leader, Christophe Tack (BE), to retain his first place finish in the single elimination. He had this to say about it:

"Feels amazing to win my first ever PKRA tour stop here in Fuerteventura! Happy that I rode well in the strong and light winds. Time to celebrate with my friends!"

Overall, the Fuerteventura Kiteboarding Grand Slam proved to be a giant success with many close and amazing on-water battles throughout the week. In true Fuerteventura style, we saw a variety of conditions, which challenged the riders on all levels and allowed for copious amounts of exciting kiteboarding action for the fans and spectators, both on the beach and online. As the deserving champions were recognized for their achievements at the awards ceremony, the 13th running of the PKRA Fuerteventura Grand Slam came to a close with great triumph.
